Once Upon a Time-Scrap Around the World -Moment to Shine

For RAINY DAY GIVEAWAY please click here

It's my turn at Scrap Around the World for the "Moment to Shine" Tutorial. I love the Mood Board this month and actually did two creations believe and this one. I am an avid believer in fairy tales! This is my layout.
And this is the wonderful Mood Board I had to work with designed by the talented Amy Voorthuis!
This is just a brief tutorial. Learning how to do a nice video one is on my list of things to accomplish! So here we go!

1.    Choose 1 plain cardstock & 3 subtle-print papers.
Trim down your printed papers slightly to form a layered-up look.
Adhere all sheets together.

2.  Ink up your background to match your papers, using chalk ink pads or gelatos.
Place tags & die-cuts on your layout & tuck some torn music papers under your top layer.

3.  Using a variety of stamps, stamp images on your layout.

4.   Apply modeling paste through a stencil around the inked areas.

5.   Apply a coat or 2 of co-ordinating paint onto your chipboard piece.

6.  Apply Liquid Pearls to your chipboard then sprinkle
with embossing powder.  Heat dry to set.

ST 57.  77.7.
7.  Add your photograph, flower clusters, buttons,
crystals & chipboard to complete your layout.

Here are a few closeups.

Here is what I used to create my layout

treasure-Dusty Attic September Sketch Challenge

A new Kisses for Keaton page using the September sketch from Dusty Attic. This is little Kiki before the horror of cancer came into her life. I am trying to make the Kisses for Keaton albums well rounded. They will include Kiki's battle with the disease as well as life before cancer  and a few pages dedicated to mom, dad and sister Mika.I was thrilled to hear that Kiki was granted her wish from the Make A Wish Foundation and is going on a Disney Cruise! This family deserves this vacation!
I used Maja Design's Crea Diem papers for this layout. And this was the sketch I had to work with. . .
And a few close-ups
A mix of blooms from Prima, Petaloo and Maya Design.
Love this soft pink bling from Prima.
I tried to pull some denim in from Kiki's outfit and cut up a piece of denim and tucked small pieces in each of the corners. Then added a little bling to help it stand out. You can also see one of my favorite script stamps from Bo Bunny and of course some masking with the homemade moulding paste. I used two Sweet Pea Borders to make the circle frame surrounding the photo. Again I used the technique I saw on the Swirlydoos blog where I used some liquid pearls and embossing powder to get a textured effect on the chipboard.
Another Dusty Attic piece was the title treasure done with blue paint. And more masking using my favorite heart mask from Heidi Swapp (Thank-you again Marilyn Rivera!). The stamp is from Hero Arts.

And finally the rubon quote from Kaisercraft. You can also see a snipet of cheesecloth here. I  used it throughout the page to soften the overall look. Well that ties up another post. We are heading into the weekend and it is cold!!! I feel like we were cheated this summer! Far to short and now the trees are already 40% turned here in Muskoka. Snow is coming ugh! Not my favorite time of year but then again I can stay in and scrap. For now tho I have to get my garden ready for winter. Have a great weekend! All the best! :)

the boyz-Sketchabilities #122

I've been promising my sister an album of her boys for years now. She gave me her favourite younger years photos years ago and on a recent visit she asked me how her album was going. I smiled and replied great! Here is the first page lol. My handsome nephews Eric & Tyler.
I used this sketch from Sketchabilities for this layout.
To make it more masculine I replaced the hearts with cogs. This is so hard for me as I am so used to doing the little girl and princess pages. This album will most definitely be a challenge!
I did add a bloom or two out of habit! I used Prima's Cartographer Collection papers and flowers.
To get the masculine look I did a great deal of misting including on the alphas!
A close-up or two.
At the last minute i decided to add some moulding paste to the page. I have been using homemade moulding paste lately and have really enjoyed it. I can make it as thick or thin as I want. Well off to start another page. I am so far behind because of my illness and my computer issues. Have a great weekend! All the best! :)

believe

This month at Scrap Around the World the Mood Board revolved around the world of make believe of fairies and Fairy Tales and I was enthralled! I am still very much a kid a heart and love fairies and princesses! So I found myself not only making one layout for the Design Team reveal but a second one for myself. One of each granddaughter! Take a peek at my Magical Fairy Princess!
When I take the girls for a week each summer for holidays we often dress up and play in the woods. Of course Grandma is never without her camera. This summer I got some really lovely shots of Emily. At five she is still a tiny girl much like a pixie. I loved how she got so caught up in the role and you can see it by the smile on her face!
I received my LE Kit from My Creative Scrapbook and it had these amazing papers from Websters Pages new line Strawberry Fields! The graphics in this line are just gorgeous!
I did a lot of fussy cutting placing flowers and strawberries throughout my page. I used some Blue Fern chipboard for a change. I love these little trellis bits!
I did a lot of inking on this page and used moulding paste (yes home made! the pages smell nice!) using two different masks. I looked everywhere for this heart mask but couldn't find it anywhere. Lucky me I have a wonderful friend , Marilyn Rivera, who went out and bought one for me and shipped it up to Canada! She is the nicest person! So kind and sweet! Thank-you Marilyn, again!
The other mask is Rings and Puddles which I ordered from The Scrapbook Diaries! (Great store by the way!) I added the little Prima resin angels in as they just seemed to fit the theme perfectly.
Fussy cut flowers mixed together with Petaloo's gorgeous blooms and another tiny fairy. I even used twine on this layout lol! From gifts that were given to me I kept the twine. I made yellow and pink bows. You can see a peek of Dusty Attic in there as well in the small red clock frame.
And finally my title. believe. I do I guess I always will. We all need a little fantasy in life. I stamped the bottom of my page and used black embossing powder to make a bold border. Believe is another Dusty Attic chippie! Well that't it for this post. I will be back soon to make a revision to my contest! Adding a few things and due to problems with my computer I haven't been able to really get it out there so going to change things around! Make sure you come back and check it out! I am off to bed. Have a great evening! All the best! :)
