Mother

I was planning on doing a layout about my mom this mother as it is Breast Cancer Awareness month and this is what claimed her life. I noticed that over at Once Upon A Sketch that their sketch this month was about a woman/girl in your life. I can't think of anyone who has influenced me more than my mom. At the same time I saw the gorgeous Mood Board over at Swirlydoos and fell in love with the beautiful pink dress and flowers so I thought I'd enter it in both!

This is my beautiful mother. She was eighteen at the time and this is my favourite picture of her when she was younger. She was always so classy. I remember when we were little my mom and dad and friends would go out for Sunday walks and the women wore high heels! Always dressed immaculately and looking so elegant!
I used Maja Design's Sofiero collection for this layout. Seeing as this collection is no longer available I wanted to save it for something special. I can't think of a better layout to use it on. I wanted to show that it was the Sofiero collection so I die cut out a small square with the name on it. The lace is from Prima.
I traced a mask over the paper then cut out the pattern. I backed it with the gorgeous rose paper. I then used the same mask and used a different flower and went down the side with fibre paste. I love the texture that fibre paste gives you!
The title speaks for itself. American thickers Alphas.

I used some Liquid Peals and did some masking along the top. I also used some plain moulding paste and went along the top of the layout with a different mask.

My flower cluster. I made a lot of the flowers in this cluster, I tend to do this on pages that have great meaning for me. I want that little extra touch. The rest of the flowers are from Prima and the leaves from Dusty Attic.
A better shot of the Sofiero label.
This is the sketch from Once Upon a Sketch that I used as my template and
this is the gorgeous Mood Board from Swirlydoos kit club. Look at that gorgeous dress! I love pink. The heart, the dress and those gorgeous flowers in the jar were my inspiration for this!
That's it for now. Hope you enjoyed! All the best! :)

Timeless-Scrap Around the World November Mood Board by Rachael Funnel

The month of October at Scrap Around the World brings us this beautiful Mood Board by the incredibly talented Rachael Funnell. http://scraparoundtheworld.blogspot.ca/
I was inspired by many things on this Mood Board and tried to incorporate them into my page. I love butterflies, the colors purple, blue and pink called out to me as did the cogs on that funky butterfly ring! The birdcage said vintage to me and I love that quote from Nietzsche about dancing and this is what I came up with.
A vintage ballet fairy!
Once again I turned to my Maja Design papers. I used papers from Ska Vi ta en Fika? and Vintage Autumn Basics.
I also used a lot of gold on this layout to help give it a more vintage look.
The main flourish behind the photo is from Dusty Attic and a gift from my good friend Gabrielle Pollaco (hugs).
I turned to my trusty stash of Dusty Attic and used two birdcages on this layout. The clock and birdcages were primed with Gesso then I used the gorgeous Shimmerz  Inklingz paint in Brass Knuckles to get that gorgeous gold shine. I also cut a clock out from my Maja papers to back the clock. You can also see some masking  here that I did using the Jenni Bowlin mask Mini North Star from Scrapbook Diaries. (Actually the mask and the Shimmerz are from kits I bought from Scrapbook Diaries!) I added a dab of Liquid Pearls in lavender to the centre of each star.
The second birdcage with a bird tucked behind it. In hindsight I should have done the bird in a darker color. A few cogs tucked into the curve of the flourish. You can also see a butterfly I had in my stash from Reneabouquets.
A very simple cluster of flowers from Prima and Kaisercraft.
Here you can see some more masking I did ( I love moulding paste and masks!!) with the Mini Damask mask from Jenni Bowlin. I also loved these cute little copper clocks from Maya Road and tucked them in opposing corners.
And finally the title, also from Dusty Attic. Again this piece was primed with Gesso and then I went over it with Lindy's Stamp Gang's Afternoon Denim Delight. I went over it several times then heated it with my heat gun until it started to bubble a bit. I also used some gold ribbon (American Crafts Glitter Tape) along the top and bottom of the page to keep the continuity.

Once again we have some amazing prizes this month as well as two facebook giveaways! Take a look!

A friend in need!

Hello all. I would normally never do something like this but I am desperate. I have two beautiful dogs, both black labs. One of them Stormy the female is in dire trouble. She has a mass on her spine which could be either a Mast Tumor or a Infected Abcess. She requires surgery to the tune of $2006.00 which I am sure will go up as she gets worse. Storm is a beautiful dog.

She has a great sense of humor
And loves to play
Mostly she is loved
My daughter started a Go Fund Me account in the hopes that we could raise the money to get Storm the care she desperately needs. It saddens me to do this. I am a proud person and have always managed life on my own. When I was an RN I was able to support my family and pets with no problem. But then I suffered an injury at work that ruined my back and I lost my career. I didn't even get WSIB for my injury because they claimed I had a pre-existing back condition. All because I once went to Occupational Health to get a Tylenol for a backache I had. Arg! Now I live on a disability that is not even remotely close to what I use to make and I am struggling. So now I am humbly asking for help to save my Stormy girl.
