Miss You Most at Christmas Time

Christmas is always a special time of year for our family. My mom was born on Christmas Eve and of course being German meant our Christmas celebrations took place on Christmas Eve. This is the last picture taken of my mother. The next day she was admitted back into hospital where I sat with her for the next five months until she passed. I always think of the song Miss You Most at Christmas TIme by Mariah Carey when I think of her. She passed in May 2011. The wounds are still fresh but at least now I am able to scrap this picture without constant tears in my eyes. Miss you so much mom. . .have so much to tell you. . .

I used the Turtle Dove Collection from KaiserCraft. Love this paper.
And just a few closeups of the layout.

I love Prima Resins!!! The angel said it all for me with her heart in her hands. I used my Tim Holtz markers to add a bit of color to her.

and one last pic

Not really happy with the way the title came out but it was so long! I ended up cutting out the letters with my Cameo and realized they looked too small so I used the outline of them as a stencil and used some modeling paste and scrapped the title through the stencil. Used Tim Holtz sticlkes to make it stand out. Well sure not going to get another layout done this year so I will end this post with a wish for everyone for a very Safe and Happy New Year may all your wishes come true this year and may you meet your resolutions head on! I know I will be! :) Be well! TFL!

Merry Christmas-Memories

Well it's almost here! The one day of the year where we prepare for days, weeks, months ahead of time for that special time where all else is put to the side and family and friends come together to celebrate life. I did this layout for my mantel this year. One of my favourite things are the ornaments on the tree that have special meaning for us. Hung with almost reverance I can sit in the dark room with my tree lit up and just stare and take it all in for hours. Each ornament a memory from days gone by.
The bird ornament decorates my sister's tree and I fell in love with it the minute I saw it. And every year I take a picture of it. The carosel is a Noma ornament that turns. It was my very first Noma and each year I would by a new one. Now they don't make them anymore :( I guess I'll have to start making my own!

I love my Dusty Attic and use it on almost every layout. I primed these music notes with Gesso and then spray painted them gold to make them pop.
I used Bo Bunny's Father Christmas papers for this layout. I stitched around the page with black and metallic thread to add that extra shine.

I used a sketch I saw on the Ces't Manifique site and loved the trees and banner. This page commemorates 2012.

I sometimes like to bunch up the paper in the corners of my layouts and fill them in with flowers and what not. Some of these embellies are years old and I thought it long past time that I used them!
A little bling from Basic Grey and one last shot. . .
I would like to wish everyone and very Merry Christmas and good cheer through the holidays (be safe!). I would also like to send out my prayers to the families of the victims from the terrible tragedy that occurred at Sandy Hook School in Connecticut. You are constantly in my thoughts and prayers, my heart breaks for you. I have a grandaughter in Kindergarden and when I think, well I can't even bear to think I get tears in my eyes. May the angels be with you now and always as you struggle to come to terms with your loss. I will be lighting 26 white candles this Christmas for you. God Bless-Pam Ellis

My Creative Sketches-Moments

This is the November Sketch over at My Creative Sketches.
This is my interpretation of the sketch. I used the Limited Edition Kit from My Creative Scrapbooking Kit Club. The kit is full of beautiful papers Tea Thyme from Prima. This is my oldest daughter Ashley with her youngest Emily at my wedding. Only two years old at the time Emily did a fantastic job as one of my two flower girls. I love this picture, mommy reassuring her girl :)
This quote from Kaisercraft was perfect for this layout. Time is measured in minutes. Life is measured in moments. How true.

I did a little bit of stamping on the page using a Prima stamp set and my Tim Holtz markers. I made my circle using the Vintage Floral Punch from Martha Stewart and handstiched just inside the border. I used a LaBlanche stamp and stamped inside the circle with embossing ink and then used white embossing powder. I went over the dried image with a mauveish colored ink to bring out the image. It is hard to see in this photo but it came out rather well.

The chipboard is of course Dusty Attic (French Flourish) and was included with the kit. I painted it with gesso then inked around the edges and finally used my word stamp and lightly stamped the entire piece. The little bling in the middle is from Websters accents.
That's it for me today, so much to do this month it's overwhelming but oh how I love Christmas! Have a terrific week and TFL!
