Beach Walk-Fan of the Month Blue Fern Studios

Today is my last day as Blue Fern fan of the month for January but I will continue to be an avid fan of Blue Fern forever! My last layout was done using the Seaside collection (one of my personal favs!).
This is a photo taken this past September while on holiday with my hubby and pup Bruiser (so suitably named!). Taken on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean in Pictou, Nova Scotia, it was our first holiday in 15 years!
I used the Seashell frame for my photo. Again I cut the chipboard, I swear there are times I don't! I primed it with Gesso then had fun heat embossing it with a variety of embossing powders. (Honey, Sage, Glistening Waves, Seven Seas, Ginger and Coral) You can see in my background that I did some stencil and misting work to try and match the papers to my photo.
I also used a starfish from the Nautical pieces as well as some seashells I picked up from the beach while we were there. I wanted some real momentos on my page. The vial from Tim Holtz also holds beach sand from the shores of Caribou Monroe Provincial Park.
I used coral embossing powder for my title. It worked with the page so well. A few melanges from Prima were also included for some added interest.
Along the bottom of my page I mixed Art Stones in some Gel medium and added them to my page. I then misted them again to try and match the sandy color of the paper and my photo. I added some paper layers behind my photo and fussy cut a ilttle flower cluster to run along the side of my photo. You get a good close up of Bruiser here. It was his first holiday and I have to admit he was amazing to travel with. He was a saint on the long drives but a terror on the beach! He loved running in the ocean. He just didn't know when to stop and needless to say shortly after this photo I ended up bruised and wet from his wanting to "play" lol.
Again more shells from the beach and Prima embellishments including an anchor from Frank Garcia's St. Tropez collection. The blooms are lilies from both the Harvest and Wanderer lines.
And finally the last close up of my split title. It actually said A Walk on the Beach but I wanted to shorten it. That's one of the many things I love about Blue Fern's chipboard, it's adaptable! And another little starfish from Prima.

That is it. My final piece as Fan of the Month. I would like to thank Valerie and Leslie from Blue Fern Studios for giving me the opportunity to showcase my work with their gorgeous products. I have been a fan of Blue Fern since it's inception and think I will continue to be for a very long time! It's be fun! Thanks for coming by and I hope to see you soon!
All the best! :)

Wish-Mini Challenge Word for January More Than Words

Hello and welcome back! Today I am here with a short post about this month's Mini Challenge at More Than Words! The word this month is WISH.
I made a card for my granddaughter Lilly's 11th Birthday. I used the Zella Teal line from Prima Marketing. I love, love, love this line teal is my absolute favorite color! Everything on this card is from Prima!
I hope you come out this month and give it a try!! I'll be looking for you there!
All the best! :)

You are my Inspiration Blue Fern Fan of the month January

This is my third layout as Blue Fern's Fan of the Month for January. I choose to scrap this photo of my mom at 18. My mother and I had a precarious relationship through out my earlier years. We often clashed and I became the rebellious blacksheep of the family. When my father was diagnosed with cancer I moved back in with my parents to care for him fulltime. He passed after only four months. Three months later my mother was diagnosed with reoccurring breast cancer. For the last three years of her life I was her everything. Nurse, cook, maid. In that last year our relationship changed and we became best friends. My mom shared things with me that no one else knew. We had movie marathon nights binge eating sweets from the bakery. We stayed up late and talked and slept late everyday. I stayed by her side through every procedure and in the end advocated for her to die with dignity. My mother passed away in my arms on May 5th 2011. I will forever be changed by the experience of being her caregiver. Most of all I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to get to really know my mom and take care of her in return for all the support she gave me throughout my life. She is my Inspiration! I miss you mom, so very much!
I used the Remnants line for this layout.
I used the Faded Bloom chipboard and cut it in half placing one bloom at either end of my photo. I used Nighsky embossing powder for the flower and a Lindy's light green for the leaves.
I also used some Printed chipboard on this piece. I took the two burgundy frames from the sheet and separated them. I tucked one under each corner the added some Purple Haze Seedlings in the corner for added texture. I then painted my title You are my Inspiration" in Dark Velvet metallic paint from Finnibar. Again I cut the title and placed each piece upon the faded blooms to pull the layout in a bit.
I cut various papers into tags to build layers behind my photo. I misted a ribbon in Lindy's ink to match the papers. I also did some stamping and heat embossing on the page using Garden Frolic and Butterfly stamps from Blue Fern.
Another printed chippie that speaks volumes as to how I feel about my mom. A little purple glitter from my stash was also added.
I used the Remnants Florals to embellish this page. The colors worked perfectly.
A close up of the Printed Chippie and Seedlings.
Final close-up of my blooms. I used the following products from Blue Fern:

Papers:
Vignette
Chancery Lane
Highgate
Bloomsbury

Chipboard:
Faded Blooms
You are my Inspiration

Seedlings:
Purple Haze

Embossing Powder:
Nightsky

Printed Chipboard

Flowers:
Remnants Florals

Stamps:

That is it for my layout for today.

Families are Forever Blue Fern Fan of the Month

I am back today with my second layout as Blue Fern fan of the month for January. Today I am showing you a layout done with blue Fern's latest release Remnants!
These papers are filled with gorgeous rich colors and can be used for just about anything!
Once again I cut my chipboard title into pieces so I could spread it across the page. I embossed the title with  Garnet. Behind the title is a chippie from their printed chipboard line.
Another piece of the title along with another piece of chipboard called Persian Ornament. I embossed this piece with the gorgeous Night Sky embossing powder and then added some Meadow Seedlings along the bottom.
Last piece if the title.
I used a Prima die to cut this doily from the Mayfair paper and added a little chippie from the Printed Chipboard to embellish it.
I used a Prima stencil and added some design to my page. Once dried I colored the flower pattern with a watercolor pencil in a cranberry color then added Redwine Glitter on top for some sparkle. Another piece of printed Chippie as well.
I used the Remnants floral bloom and the white one is from the Homespun collection. Behind it is a fussy cut bloom from the Mayfair paper that matches the chipboard in the top left corner.
That is it for me for this week. I am sicker than a dog with the flu the actual "flu" and plan on resting a bit today. I hope you all have a great week!
All the best! :)

All You Need is Love-Blue Fern Fan of the Month

I am absolutely thrilled to be here today to tell you that I am Blue Fern Studios' Fan of the Month for January!!! I love Blue Fern Studios products and have used them since they hit the market years ago! I used to stalk stores looking for the latest releases lol. For my first layout I used the gorgeous Amber & Apricot line.
This is a photo of my grandson Jaxon and his little Guinea Pig Scruffy. Aren't they both adorable?
I like to layer my papers and used the following papers
Birdsong
Busy Bees
Chapters
Faded Blooms
For my title I used All You Need is Love. This is one of the many things I love about Blue Fern is that they have countless amazing sayings that work beautifully as titles on a page. I cut this title up (another thing I love is that they are so easy to change). I also used Garden lattice Bits tucked behind my papers for added texture and depth.
I also used some blooms from Blue Fern from the Courtship collection. I didn't want to overdo the flowers on this boy page and this flowers were the perfect choice! I did some background work with a stencil and molding paste then outlined the stenciling with an Inktense watercolor pencil in Branch to add more shadow. I did a bit of stamping using the Essential Textures Stamp also from Blue Fern :) ! I also used some sparkles from Blue Fern called Autumn.
Now Blue Fern also has the 12 by 12 printed chipboard which I love!! I used two of the circles to add an extra sentiment to my page. I love that I can find an entire collection with Blue Fern that includes absolutely everything I need to make a layout!!
Just awhile back I finally found my dream store that carried everything Blue Fern and much much more! If you are like me and want to be able to get the entire collection then this is the store for you!
You can find them Here

I am a Blue Fern Fanatic without a doubt! They now have a Facebook page for people just like me called exactly that Blue Fern Fanatics! This month they are having a sketch challenge
So give it a try!
That's it for this post but stay tuned for more yummy Blue Fern next week! And a huge thank-you to Blue Fern for giving me this opportunity to use their products and showcase my work I am honored!
All the best and see you next week! :)
