#FRIENDS My Creative Sketches

My entry for the February Sketch Challenge at My Creative Sketches. My granddaughter Lilly on the right at her 7th Birthday party with her bestie Morgan.
This was the sketch. I have a tendency to stay pretty close to the sketch.
I used the February Main Kit from MCS filled with cute papers from the Crate paper line Love Notes. I dry brushed the sheet with Gesso then started applying mists. Unfortunately I didn't like how it came out so I went over it a second time with Gesso to let the misting bleed through instead. I also did some stamping and used a couple of stencils and moulding paste for more texture. The kit came with a full sheet of gorgeous chipboard shapes and I used one as a banner along the bottom.

I used some flowers from the kit and added a stem from my stash to do a vertical flower cluster. I wrapped the bottom in Washi tape. Sort of the way you get them from the market. Again a little masking with moulding paste. The teal splatters are also done with a stencil from TIm Holtz. Funny now we use stencils to get that spilled look when years ago all I had to do was leave one of my kids in the room and something would have spilt! The buttons are from my stash.
I backed the picture with some netting I had left from my wedding decorations. It worked perfectly with my color scheme. Behind that is more Washi tape!
More organized spillage in teal. The chevrons and title I won in another sketch contest. I painted the chevrons with metallic teal then went over them with a Gelly roll pen from Sakura. Next time I know better. In between the chevrons are more chevrons in moulding paste.
Last close-up of the title and some more stamping and masking. I am still finding my way with mixed media. I like it but I swear it doesn't like me. Oh well it's like the saying goes practice makes perfect! Have a great day and see you soon! All the best! :)
