Mr & Mrs Scrap Around the World Mid-month Reveal

Hello again. Here today to show you my take on this month's Mood Board at Scrap Around the World. The Mood Board was designed by the talented Lydie Denis from France.
I was inspired by the vintage feel of the board. The wood, the old books, and the dab of pink in the rose. And here is my take. . .
A photo of my grandparents and their wedding party. Sadly my grandparents on my mom's side lived in East Germany and for their entire life lived with the shadow of the Berlin WALL. I was able to visit them twice as a child and when I was a teenager my grandfather was finally able to come visit Canada. Once you turned 65 in East Germany you were deemed unnecessary and therefore it wasn't a threat if you defected so you were allowed to leave. Sadly my grandfather was waiting for my grandma to turn 65 but she didn't make it. She passed at 64 and was never able to see the wonderful life we lived here in Canada. My grandfather thought we were millions because we had a little bungalow with our own yard!!! Can you imagine the poverty? I remember their tiny little apartment. Two rooms. One was a kitchen, the other the bedroom/dining room/family room. They had a closet with a toilet in it for a washroom. My mother's bedroom was a couch. I understand why she defected! Back to the layout lol
I tired paper folding on this layout. I obviously need a lot more practice! Underneath the folds I did some masking and then allowed the ribbon to drape over it.
I used Prima's Something Blue line for this layout. Their chipboard made a perfect title! The rose is also from Prima, the flower is from Petaloo. Again more masking done with a 7Dots stencil. Background misting was done with Lindy's Stamp Gang Cosmopolitan Pink.
A close-up of more masking and stamping. A couple of hand made flowers. I need to get back to this! I now own some awesome Heartfelt Creations stamps and dies so watch out for a ton of blooms in the future.
Last close-up. Some more Prima blooms and a Dusty Attic chippie (Wall Clock #2). Remember we are offering some awesome prizes as usual this month so pop on over to our blog HERE and check them out! In the meantime all the best! :)

  1. What an amazing layout with such a soft and elegant feel to it . Your folds are perfect and the lace touch just adds to the beauty. If I sound a bit over the top its because this is really so beautiful and your story makes it even more special !
